KOREAN & QUEER LEARNING (2022)

A deck of cards designed to teach users both Hangul, and various LGBTQIA+ identities.

This project was developed as part of my ART 207: Type & Image class. In this project, I wanted to highlight the lack of representation of being both queer and a person of color within Connecticut College. While there are clubs for each of these, finding a safe space for intersecting identities can be extremely difficult. This inspired me to at least teach others about my own identity (being Korean and queer), through a strong visual art form. This led me to designing playing cards-  where individuals can learn how to spell their names in Hangul, as well as inform them about various queer identities. This includes the addition of multiple "cheat sheets" for the alphabet, character ordering, and a definition of queer identities.
